AS House

Refurbishment of a private house
Rome, 2021 – in progress

The refurbishment project for AS House – built in the 1960s – follows the client’s need to turn one of the bedrooms into a living, minimising the demolitions as much as possible. The project requires the removal of the partition between the kitchen and the new day area, developing two different spacescommunicating with each other and with the entrance and hallway, where a built-in closet enables the client to make full use of the existing niche, making it completely integrated into the wall. The kitchen is fully equipped, with the food preparation area on the left, and kitchen units on the right with cupboards going up to the ceiling – ending with an island, which works as a bridge between this space and the dining and living area. From a finishes and colour scheme perspective, the whole project is featured with slightly muted shades of blue, sage green and brick red, which are a perfect compound with the herringbone-pattern parquet installed in all the rooms except for the bathroom, where the choice fell on a terrazzo flooring.
